Personal Guitar Tuition by Experienced Teacher
Hi, my name is Hawi Gondwe, an experienced Guitar Teacher and guitarist available to students of all ages and levels who want to Learn Guitar in Central London. I have taught extensively in schools and colleges in the London area for many years.
I bring into my teaching method a lot that I have learned from over twenty years of working as a professional musician and guitar tutor.
I am based in Camden, North London and have students who come from Camden, North London and Central London. I do, however, often give Guitar Lessons to students based as far afield as Stoke Newington, Lambeth, Westminster, Islington and surrounding areas such as Chalk Farm, Hampstead and Belsize Park.
Learn the styles you want to learn and the music you want to play.
My method uses the students own enthusiasm for the songs and styles they want to learn to accelerate their learning.
Students can be taught to Play the Guitar in various styles. There are many techniques and aspects of playing covered, from Acoustic Guitar strumming to Electric Lead Guitar soloing.
I will use knowledge that I have built up over years of playing to show you how to approach popular forms of music from Pop, Rock and Funk to Jazz and Fingerstyle.
Lessons can also be given in the creative role of the guitar in Songwriting, Creating Parts for a song and in the context of Home Studio Recording.
I have taught, and continue to teach, as a visiting guitar tutor at various schools and colleges for over ten years in such schools as Westminster City School in 2014 and colleges such as Newham Sixth Form College from 2012 to now.
I cover a wide range of styles from acoustic folky fingerpicking and strumming to classic rock styles, pop, jazz, soul and funk both as a teacher and guitar player.
I would be more than happy to teach you to play guitar if you are interested in rapidly advancing your learning with an intuitive ‘hands on’ approach based around your favourite songs and styles. The amount of theory you are offered is up to you and the main focus will be on practical application and ‘playing to learn’.
Lessons take an informal, fun approach where straight away we will look at playing the kind of music you wish to play and your own enthusiasm behind that becomes your engine for learning. This will be the case whether you are a beginner or more advanced. I have plenty of teaching resources, equipment and guitars at my home studio so there is no need to bring your own instrument if that is inconvenient. I am prepared to travel to you for lessons but we would need to agree that on a different basis.

In the last post I began describing a situation where I have to learn a song and play a version of it when the mp3 I have been sent or YouTube video I have been directed to has no guitar part. I admit that each time that happens part of me says ' oh no..more work to do!' But likewise another part of me says 'great! I can do what I want and have fun with this'. In the case of the last example I gave my reaction was definitely more the latter.
Students are taught in the relaxed, comfortable surroundings of my home studio.
If you have been thinking about guitar lessons then this could be the ideal opportunity for you to Learn Guitar in Central London!
